Queen of Hearts Rules

How is the game played?

The game starts with 54 cards face down on the board, the 52 regular
cards plus 2 jokers.  The winner of the raffle will have the card number
flipped over that is indicated on their entry.  If the queen of hearts
if flipped over the winner will split the jackpot with the Orland Park
Kiwanis Club.  If any other card is flipped over the winner will receive
$500.  Once a card is selected, it will be removed from play and shown
face up on the board.  If a joker is drawn the board is reset and the
next drawing will have all 54 cards face down again.

Who can play?

Players must be at least 18 years of age and located in Illinois.

How will I know what entries have won or if I won?

After purchasing your tickets, you will receive an email listing your tickets. You can watch the drawing announcement on our Facebook Live feed. Additionally all entrants will be emailed within 48 hours of the winners being drawn. The winner ticket numbers will also be posted on our website within 48 hours. If you have won the $500 or jackpot we will contact you to confirm your address so that we can mail you a check. We also have options to pay with Paypal, Venmo, or Zelle if you prefer. Prior to awarding of the split the jackpot prize we will need to get your information to complete a 1099 for you winnings.

What happens if I have selected a card to be flipped over that has already been picked?

Mistakes happen, if you have chosen number that has already been flipped over we will try calling you to before the announcement. If we cannot reach you we will randomly pick a card that has not been turned over.

Do I need to be present to win?

If you purchased your ticket online, you do not need to be present to win. We will contact you via email and/or the phone number on your entry. If you purchased your ticket at the hall, YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN. If we draw a ticket sold at the bingo hall, after we make the announcement of the winning ticket we will make a good faith effort to find you. If after 10 minutes you have not presented your winning ticket, we will draw a new winner.

How will I receive my winnings?

Winners will be paid by check. We may also be able to pay with Paypal, Venmo, or Zelle if you prefer. If you purchased online, we will contact you via the email and/or phone number on your entry. For a $500 winner, we will confirm with you and either mail you a check or pay you electronically. If you are at the bingo hall, we will pay your there. If you won the Split the Jackpot, please see the “Will taxes be withheld” section below.

Will taxes be withheld and when will I receive my jackpot payout if I win?

The Federal Government as well as the State of Illinois require us to withhold taxes (24% Federal and 4.95% State in 2023). Taxes will be withheld based on current regulations. We are also required to file a form 1099-G with your winnings. Your prize will be paid out as soon we obtain your information to complete the 1099-G and we double check current withholding amounts (typically about 1 week).
